Last year I produced a corporate event with Encore Live at the Nasdaq in New York City over my birthday weekend. The event went better than I could have ever asked for, and, not to mention, I ended up on the big screen in Times Square. How's that for a birthday weekend?
Thought my birthday couldn't get any better? Little did I know, my two best friends were going to show up and join the party. We had a great time exploring the city after the event was over.
Our hotel was located in Times Square, a perfect spot to stay in while on "vacation" (my job is kinda fun). As a tourist, Times Square is definitely an area to go check out in both day & night.
Finally my event was over and it was time to go explore & have some fun! We had a long list of sites to visit, but we decided to just wing it.
We of course had to stop at Grand Central Station (Any Gossip Girl fans out there? Friends with Benefits? Mhmm). I was waiting for the flash mob... it never happened.
So we kept walking and ran into The Plaza Hotel. We went inside to check it out, and it was GORGEOUS. If I had all the money in the world, I would be staying at this hotel.
How the heck did Kevin McCallister afford this?
One of my favorites - The Metropolitan Museum of Art
I would highly recommend taking a visit to this museum. We had some fun observing the artwork, and then came outside to sit on the steps (just trying to blend in with the locals, ya know).
Fell in love with Central Park!
Central park is huge! There are so many trails, we had no idea where we were going to end up. If I could do this over, I would have brought a little picnic with us to have some lunch in the park. If you are single, I'm sorry, but you will be surrounded by disgustingly sweet couples holding hands & just being really damn cute.
How could we not go ice skating in Rockefeller Center? Too much fun!
View of the Empire State Building!
Although we did not go to the top of the Empire State Building, we went to the top of Rockefeller Center (which had a better view anyway - thanks for the tip, New Yorkers).
My girl, Lady Liberty!
The 4 best friends that anyone could have…
I definitely recommend taking the ferry to theStatue of Liberty! Ok we actually didn't take the ferry to Lady Liberty, we took it to Staten Island. However, I do suggest taking a ferry to see the Statue of Liberty up close. If we had more time, we definitely would have!
Bryant Park was a nice little surprise for us one morning. We came across a cute outdoor restaurant to relax for a bit & have a (couple) mimosas. There was a fun event going on in the area with music, games, and entertainment. We loved it - definitely go check it out!
Taking the subway is a must. At least once!
This was on my bucket list. I had to go see the 9/11 Memorial. What an experience - this is a must!
Last but not least...
Eat a NYC street dog...or 2...or 3... possibilities are just endless here.
