Marin Headlands is by far one of my favorite views of the Golden Gate Bridge. I finally got this location checked off the bucket list, but let me tell you, it was an adventure...
I can now officially tell you
"How NOT to get to the Marin Headlands"
As you are driving North across the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands is located on the Northwest side of the bridge. That means you will be taking a left after you have crossed the bridge... I repeat...
you will be taking a LEFT.
Yes, we took a right and continued down the road until we reached a pier at the bottom of the bridge. If you type in Battery Spencer on your phone, the map will take you here. We figured we might as well get out of the car and take some pictures, right? It turned out to be a great view of the bridge that we have never seen before.
We saw multiple groups walking & riding bikes along a path, so we of course decided to follow. We then figured out there was a hike to all of this. Obviously we didn't do our research.
The hike wasn't too bad, but we definitely weren't dressed for this. It's extremely chilly with heavy winds while hiking on a gravel path. Props to all you bikers out there btw.
At least we had a killer view along the way!
So we FINALLY made it.
Oh wait, we also found all the cars that took a left off the bridge instead of a right. Although we realized that you are able to park and walk 10 ft to take a picture, we did have fun on our hike. If I could go back and do it again, I would get lost on "accident" and hike all over again.
"Damn... now we have to hike all the way back down."
