My sister and I took a road trip (surprise surprise) from California to Colorado and accidentally ran into the Four Corners Monument along the way. Well it wasn't completely an accident... we passed a sign on the highway directing us to the Four Corners Monument. We decided, what the hell? 15 minutes out of our way is nothin.
So we took the alternate route and got to be in 4 states at once!
Not the most beautiful part of the road trip, but I guess that's what you get when driving through Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, and Colorado. I'm just kidding. It had its moments.
We had no idea this was an actual site with vendors selling goodies, snacks, jewelry, etc. Each little square space you see in the picture above was filled with local businesses selling their products.
Oh and it's not free to get in either. You have to pay $5.00 per person as you enter. Yea we weren't prepared for that, but at least we had some cash on hand.
FYI: Do not use this as a restroom stop. The bathrooms were under construction at the time, and the ones we had to use were not the greatest (I'm saying that very nicely). NOT GOOD.
Ever wanted to be in four states at one time? Well here you go, folks! If you are taking a road trip through any of these states, take some time out of your "busy" road trip schedule to stop and take it all in. When can you ever say you were in four states at one time? Not very often.
The biggest challenge of the whole thing? Deciding on how to take your picture in 4 states. Damn, why didn't we think of this one?
Well my ass is in 4 states at once... that's kinda cool, right?
Yoga pose maybe? Too bad we can't do handstands.
Obviously you see why I wasn't in these pictures #roadtripclothes
... but we had to take a sister pic.
There ya go, kids! The feet pic for the win.
Now we can officially say we have been in 4 states at once. Definitely check this site out... just do it for the pictures damnit.

It's the best time of the year, y'all.
C H R I S T M A S !
This was our second year in a row spending Christmas in Telluride, Colorado. Since skiing and family are two of our favorite things, with Telluride being our favorite ski resort, why not make this a tradition right?
If you have never been to this ski resort before, well get ready. I'll be sharing photos, restaurants, hot spots, stories, tips & tricks, etc. You will either 1) feel like you were there, even though you weren't, and it's now your new favorite ski resort... or... 2) book your next trip to Telluride Ski Resort.
I'm being serious. Here we go, friends!
So my sister and I decided to road trip this year from San Francisco to Telluride with both of our animals. This could have been a recipe for disaster, but it surprisingly turned out to be a great road trip. Notice I didn't say "perfect" road trip...
Our parents & brother were flying from Texas to Colorado and were scheduled to arrive around noon on the 21st. With that being said, we of course, wanted to arrive around the same time they did. Alex and I decided to depart around 6:00pm on the 20th, the night before. Let's just say, driving in the dark for over 12 hours is ROUGH. Especially when your sister sleeps for 10 of them...
N E V E R A G A I N .
If you are road tripping from San Francisco or Northern California area, I highly suggest staying the night at a hotel somewhere. It's a long road trip if there are only two of you. If you have a larger group and trade off drivers, then you will be fine driving straight through.
The kids (dog & cat) were amazing btw. No fighting, no whining, nothing. They slept the whole way... lucky them.

FOUR CORNERS MONUMENT
The Four Corners Monument is the only location in the country where you can be in 4 states at one time!
Utah | Colorado | Arizona | New Mexico
If you are interested in learning more about this pit stop location, check out our "Four Corners Monument" post.
The roads get pretty scary as you drive into Colorado. Lots of snow and lots of ice. Definitely make sure to drive carefully, slowly, but please do not freaking go 2 mph or you will stop & get stuck. I repeat.. you will get stuck! Always keep a nice slow and steady speed no less than 35 mph - my parents taught us well (they used to live in Colorado).
I would be sure to check the weather beforehand. We drove in a couple days after the blizzard hit, so the roads weren't terrible. If you are driving on icy roads with snow pouring down on your windshield... mhm, yea, no bueno is exactly right.
ANDDD WE MADE IT!!!
I mean how beautiful is this?
I felt like I was in a fairytale. These photos don't even look real.

Each time we have come to visit Telluride, we've stayed in the downtown area. We have fallen in love with this cute little town and the residents here. You can also stay on the other side of the mountain, which is called Mountain Village. That's a very popular spot for tourists and probably a bit cheaper if this is your first time to vacation here. If you are planning on coming back each year like we do, it's fun to rent a house or a condo in the town!
The first year we spent Christmas in Telluride, we decided to rent a beautiful two story house for the week. This was the best decision we could have made with a family of 15 (yea I know). The house was in the heart of Telluride and right down the street from the ski lifts & gondola to Mountain Village. It was PERFECT.
We walked into the house with Christmas decorations and the Christmas tree already set up [whatttt], the fridge and pantry were already stocked with groceries [hell yeaaa], and we also found out that an appointment was set to retreive our ski rentals [huh?]. Guess what... the rental company was coming to OUR HOUSE. That's right. We didn't have to wait in a long ass line to get our boot sizes or try on skis. They came to us. It was the coolest & easiest way I have ever gotten my ski rentals (and I've skied a LOT). Every resort should do this, no joke. If you want an experience like this and you are staying in downtown Telluride, reach out to
I would actually be pretty shocked if you reached out to them before they reached out to you.
This year we had a smaller group attending the Christmas trip. Smaller meaning 10 people less than last year. Yup - just the Nunn fam of 5. With that being said, we decided this would be a great year to rent a fun condo in downtown Telluride. We stayed in an adorable two story condo at the Ballard House. The Ballard House is in a badass location right down the street from the ski lift & gondola to Mountain Village. It's located near all the shops, restaurants, the bakery, and the grocery store which was extremely convenient.
We took over that whole corner of the building in the photos above. The balcony upstairs was a great size and faced the mountain with a balcony on the first floor to place our ski rentals. If you are bringing your pets with you, Telluride is EXTREMELY PET FRIENDLY! Since I was bringing Libby (my basset hound) this year, we wanted to find a place that allows dogs. There is also a garage underneath the complex for parking. THIS IS A BIG DEAL. Not much indoor parking around here. The worst is having to clean off your car and wait for the windshield to defrost on the day of your departure. I would definitely recommend the Ballard House for this reason alone.
Downtown Telluride - Main St.
Main Street is where all of the shopping, restaurants, and bars are. We had so much fun walking along this street going from shop to shop. If you are wanting to purchase souvenirs for friends & family, this is definitely where to go. There are so many hidden bars & restaurants that you will find by just walking up & down Main St. Some are underground, some are in tiny upstair studios, and some are actually in houses. SO MUCH FUN.
Ok so we probably walked into this store, Overland, every single day. No, we didn't buy one thing. We just wanted to pet the sheepskin and smell the leather. I'm obsessed with this store. Go check it out!
WARNING: Do not spend over 15 minutes in this store or you will buy something... and it's not cheap.
If you're a reader or one of those who just enjoys the feeling of walking into a bookstore, then you will love Between the Covers Bookstore. It's located downtown Telluride on Main St.
There is also a cute little coffee shop in the back of the bookstore. Don't forget to check it out and order a cup of coffee to go. I actually don't even read... I just like walking around bookstores with a coffee in my hand *not ashamed* [although I do admit, I really really wish I enjoyed reading books like the cool smart people].
I thought this was kinda funny.
F O O D & D R I N K S
Smuggler's Brewpub is a cool place to go grab a beer, obvously, or a cocktail. We had dinner here the first night, and the food wasn't too bad either. If you're a sports fan, don't worry, there are TV's all around the bar to watch your favorite teams.
The restaurant gets pretty packed by dinner time, so I would suggest arriving a bit earlier. We came right before the crowd hit which was nice. It has a great location, right down the street from the gondola (which means you go straight to the bar). Definitely go check it out!
Our "take a break from skiing and go grab some food & alcohol" go-to restaurant would have to be.. drumroll please...
We were here every single day. Ordered the same thing every single day. Around the same time every single day. If you want more info on this restaurant, check out our blog post "Tomboy Tavern".
One of my favorite restaurants in all of Telluride is Alpino Vino. It's located on one of the highest peaks of the mountain and is the highest elevation fine-dining restauarant in all of North America!
This is a restaurant you should definitely check out. Feel free to visit our blog post, "Alpino Vino" for more info!
Another favorite bar of ours that we make sure to hit every year is called Allred's Restaurant. Notice I said "bar" when it's called "restaurant". If you want to sit down and have a meal at the restaurant then you will have to make reservations at least a year in advance. FOR REAL.
We normally just go straight to the bar for some cocktails & apps. No reservations needed. Since the restaurant is located at the top of the gondola, it has a beautiful view of the town of Telluride, which is one my favorite parts.
BTW: If you are a Moscow Mule type person, then this is your spot! If you like a little spice like I do, order the Moscow Mule with jalapeno in it! THE BEST.
So another bar... not a surprise. Gorrono Ranch is located mid-mountain on the Misty Maiden run. So yes, located in the MIDDLE of the mountain. Convenient right? Let's park our skis, go grab a freaking delicious burger and beer, and then finish our run down the mountain.
Gorrono Ranch typically has great happy hours going on as well. Lawn chairs are placed all over the area with firepits for people to sit and listen to live music. I would definitely recommend this spot to get a good buzz going (yes, I know you want it) as you continue down the mountain.
Ok so this was pretty cute. Our family decided to cook dinner on Christmas Eve instead of going out to a restaurant. We went to the local grocery store in Telluride and had a Mexican fiesta indoors.
Talk about an easy dinner to prepare... tacos, chips, queso, and salsa. Add a bottle (or 5) of wine... DONE!
For our last night in Telluride, we had dinner at a very nice restaurant in downtown called Rustico Ristorante. If you are looking for more of an upscale authentic Italian restaurant, I would definitely recommend this spot to you.
The customer service was out of this world. We walked in with no reservation at all, and they made sure to get us seated as soon as possible. We never had to wait on our water or wine glasses to get filled and our food was extremely fresh & prompt. It was delicious.
If you are celebrating a birthday, accomplishment or spending the holiday in the area, Rustico Ristorante is definitely a great spot to have dinner one night.
F A M I L Y & F U N
We had a huge snowstorm come through on Christmas Day, which brought us this beautiful Winter Wonderland. I have never skied on so much powder in my life!
The coolest part of this whole entire trip was on Christmas Eve. My family went to a small church service in downtown Telluride. There were locals who attended as well as visitors like us. After the church service, everyone walked outside, and it was snowing. It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. I was with my family on Christmas Eve, in one of our favorite spots in the whole entire world, with snow falling from the sky - it can't get much better than that.
Visit Telluride Ski Resort, you guys! It won't let you down. If you have any questions, don't forget to comment below.
Are you a let's get in the car and go for a road trip type person?
Yep. Me too. Keep reading...
One of my favorite road trips was driving down Highway 1 to Big Sur.
My boyfriend and I took our first visit to San Francisco for his 30th birthday. We stayed the first couple days in the city to explore, and saved the whole Saturday for our road trip to Big Sur.
We woke at 6:00am, rented a Jeep Wrangler, and headed out.
I definitely recommend renting a car if you don't have one already (well I guess you would have to). But not only renting a car, renting one of your favorite cars. It just makes the trip THAT much better... and not to mention, you just feel really damn cool.
How beautiful is this?
The highway runs along the California coast almost the whole drive.
Pit stops are the best if you haven't read my Road Trip post.
Make sure to pull over and explore when you get the chance!
One of my favorite photos of the whole trip.
Before you cross the iconic Bixby Bridge, pull over on the side to take a couple pictures. The view is too good not to, obviously.
Did I mention I love pit stops?
When we reached the hiking trails, we decided to hike up in the redwoods. The redwoods have been on my bucket list forever. And yup, it's just like the movies, y'all. I had a bit of a Katniss Everdeen & Bella Swan moment. Ok maybe a couple.
There are multiple trails to choose from... of course we chose the most difficult (we might have regretted that decision). At least it brought us to the top of the mountain with gorgeous views of the area.
After our hike, we went and had a late lunch up in the mountains.
There are great restaurants in the area, but Nepenthe was definitely our favorite! It had an outdoor patio (our favorite) with a beautiful view overlooking the water. The cocktails & food were very good as well.
After our late lunch and some more exploring, we found a cute little bakery at the bottom of the mountain. We decided to stop and have some coffee & dessert at Big Sur Bakery because why not, right? I would highly recommend this place - it was SO GOOD & SO DAMN CUTE.
After our late afternoon coffee and some more exploring, we decided to park our Jeep on the side of the highway and watch the sunset. Well even better than that, we parked and sat on top of the Jeep to watch.
I know I know.. kinda cute, right?
Well... we sat on the Jeep for a little bit. We couldn't help but take a walk on the beach while the sun was setting. After the sun set, we headed back to San Francisco.
What a fun day, right? You can easily plan this trip in one day if you are a couple hours from Big Sur.
My next trip here will be overnight camping in January. So excited to share the stories & pictures with you guys!

The view from my hotel room. Not bad, eh??
Turtle Bay Resort
We found a cute little coconut stand as we were driving through Haleiwa. Of course we had to stop and try it out for ourselves.
Best decision we could have made that day.
We took a drive through Haleiwa and found a food truck park. THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. Giovanni's Shrimp Truck is the BEST!
The Bachelorette anyone? Yup, ran into these two hotties on the trip. This was actually the second time I have met Zack & Rob. The first time was at The Grammys in LA. I think they are following me... and I'm totally ok with that.
The beach outside of Turtle Bay Resort.
I don't think I had one bad meal on this trip. You obviously can't go wrong with the seafood here.
We took a nice relaxing hike up to Waimea Falls. It wasn't a difficult hike... more of a nature walk I would say.
We made it to Waimea Falls!
After you finish up your hike at Waimea Falls, go check out the beach across the street. This was my favorite beach in the area - it's big, quiet, and way less crowded than others.
You just have to.
Matsumoto Shave Ice
Yup, so this happened. We decided to take a surf lesson. If there was any activity to do in your spare time out in Hawaii, this would be it. We took our surf lesson in North Shore where most of the locals go to surf.
I'll admit it loud & proud... I got up my second try, baby!
Thank you Lauren Souers Photography!

One of my favorite places in the state of California. If you haven't been to Malibu yet, I highly recommend it. Not only is this one of the most beautiful beaches, but the drive is unreal. Just the drive is even be worth the trip!
That house will be mine someday. Yup, it's happening.

Visiting LA? Planning an event in LA? Ever seen the chick flick "No Strings Attached"? Then I've got a good one for ya.
Take a pit stop at Urban Light outside of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. I suggest going at night when the lights are shining & music is playing. This is a fun event scene with a bar serving late night food & drinks and outdoor seating all throughout the area.
Make sure you don't stand on the light pole... you might get kicked off... ok yes, you will definitely get kicked off.
Strike a pose.
Warning: you will be photo bombed in every picture that you take in this space. I give you major props if you take a solid picture with no one in the background. Enjoy!

If you are visiting Austin or planning an event in the city, be sure to take a picture in front of Austin's famous 'i love you so much' mural.
This mural is located on the side ofJo's Coffee on South Congress. Not only should you wait in line to take a photo, but you should also grab a coffee from the coffee shop.South Congress is one of my favorite streets in Austin - it's full of outdoor patios, food trucks, live music, and shopping.
If you want to get real adventurous, you can also take a photo in front of the 'i hate you so much' wall. This wall is located at a bar called Bungalow on Rainey Street. Rainey Street is a great area to check out if you are looking for a good bar scene - a street of houses that have been turned into bars & restaurants. Bungalow has a large backyard space with outdoor games and even a taco truck. Go check it out!

So my sister and I have been on plenty of road trips together. I would say we are pretty organized and plan everything out ahead of time. We got hotels booked, rental cars taken care of, and arrival times set. We just have one problem... our damn pit stops.
Would you consider this a bad thing? Well, if you aren't on a time crunch to get somewhere, I would take as many pit stops as you possibly can. I've seen the most beautiful views, eaten the most delicious foods, met the most interesting people, and had the experiences of my life because of a simple pit stop along the way.
Like this one for instance - as my sister and I were driving down the highway, we noticed a sign that said "scenic view". We've passed many of these signs on the way, but for some reason we decided to pull over and check this one out. What is 10-15 minutes gonna do, right?
An hour later....
After seeing a view like this, do you think we keep on driving past these other "scenic view" signs? Absolutely not. Our pit stops are turning into short term visits, which turn into day trips, which stop us from doing whatever we are planning on doing that day.
At least we are taking pictures & making memories, right?
Another pit stop out in a private Washington apple orchard! Yes, I said private... hence my sister with that smile on her face, running through the apple orchard. No we did not get caught ;)
A field of sunflowers taller than me? We had to...
Ending with a vineyard we found in the middle of nowhere. There is always an excuse for a bottle of red wine!

Are you looking for a venue to host your next event in Oahu, Hawaii? Or maybe you're looking for a nice resort for your guests to stay the weekend. Turtle Bay Resort might be the perfect place for you!
I planned a week long corporate trip at Turtle Bay Resort, and let's just say, I did not leave disappointed. The resort hosted our event for the week, as well as dinners, cocktail hours, luaus, excursions, and rooms for all 200 guests.
This was the beautiful ocean front view from my balcony. Honestly, there's not a bad view in the whole resort, no matter what room you end up in. All windows face outward towards either the ocean, the beach, or the pool.
Our opening night reception was located on the back lawn of the resort. The lawn faced the beach with a perfect view of the sunset. Catering was located inside the hut with seating & cocktail rounds spread throughout the lawn. The tiki torches were a perfect touch after the sun finally set.
The beach located behind the resort is where our private luau was held. The resort coordinated the buffet, bars, the seating, the luau, as well as surprising each guest with a Hawaiian lei.
That time you realize you have the best clients in the world. Yep, this was one of those times.
My sister came up from Texas and surprised me in Spokane, Washington when I was traveling (working) on a bus tour. We were traveling all along the West Coast, and this was our second to last stop. We decided to take everyone to Lake Coeur d'Alene later that day after the event was over. The lake was only about half an hour or so away from Spokane. My clients were so excited to see these little water planes take off when we pulled up to the lake... so excited that they all decided to take flight themselves.
Behind the plane is the Coeur d'Alene Resort. I would highly recommend staying here if you are visiting. It's located right on the water with incredible views. Not to mention... the resort is known for it's World Famous Floating Green!
About an hour later, I'm reunited with my clients again. One of them was holding two plane tickets in his hand and pointed them at me. They decided to send my sister and I on a plane ride ourselves. I mean, how cool is that?
best. clients. ever.
If you are visiting Spokane or planning an event in the area, I highly recommend taking a short drive to Lake Coeur d'Alene. If you decide to take flight or not, it's a beautiful scenery with great restaurants all around the town.
